What Else?

Communications & consultancy

Els makes you see the things that were always there, but that you have grown so accustomed to that you had stopped noticing them.

Solving complex problems needs smart people working together. And those smart people can often be found outside our own organisation. So, we set up collaborations, organize meetings and give presentations  to gain and share more knowledge. However, while everyone agrees communication is important, we are often not aware of the power of the communicative choices we make during collaborations.  Especially the  social role of communication in business, which is important for the creation of trust and openness, is underexplored.

It is my purpose to get to the bottom of what it takes in your organisation to create trust and openness. Together we explore how communication should be organized to let groups of people work together across teams, organisations, sectors and disciplines and thrive to become smarter and more innovative.

I have studied and advised collaborations in and between the (high-tech) industry, academia and the public sector, providing insight in the way they use language to organise collaborations and teamwork from day to day.

I don't believe in a one size fits all approach. While traditional generic management models definitely provide a 'handy' language to talk about business, the strength of my approach to tackle problems lies in unveiling underlying patterns and assumptions in the daily organisation of work. As that organisation is mostly done through language & communication, I use my linguistic knowledge to propose hands-on changes.
